Giving Opportunities

ANNUAL FUND

The Dayton Christian School System relies on an annual base of unrestricted donations to support a wide variety of school programs, special projects and initiatives, and financial aid. The Annual Fund is the foundation of this annual support, giving DCSS the flexibility to address unexpected opportunities or respond immediately to areas of greatest need. Gifts made to the Annual Fund endorse the DCSS commitment to giving students an exceptional, affordable education and provide the necessary resources to enhance excellence in the classroom, so we can continue "Educating for Eternity."

This year's Annual Fund goal is $585,000. Why do we need $585,000? We are investing in three vital areas:

  • $150,000 for faculty pay stipends attending to employees' special financial needs
  • $175,000 for essential facility improvements at both the Dayton Christian and Xenia Christian campuses
  • $260,000 to offset a portion of Tuition Assistance for families with financial needs

Each year, donors help close the "gap" which exists between our operating needs and tuition income. The "gap" is present because we endeavor to keep school tuition and fees to the minimum levels practical in order to reach as many children as possible with a Christian education. The majority of our Annual Fund support comes through regular monthly contributions, now made easier for our donors by means of automatic, electronic transfers from their banks.

CAPITAL PROJECTS

Obedient stewardship of these incredible campuses and the fulfillment of what we believe is a God-given vision will require development of additional essential facilities. A strategic development plan has identified facility developments by priority. Special capital campaigns are conducted periodically to raise funds for these major construction projects. Projects within the capital campaigns are usually arranged according to the priorities set by the governing board and senior leadership team.

SPECIAL PROJECTS

Many important projects that we are not able to include in our annual operating budget are planned. These projects are underwritten by families, relatives, and friends that desire to make near-term, practical improvements in the classroom or campus of their choice.

ENDOWMENT FUNDS

The Dayton Christian School System continues to seek gifts to our Endowment Funds. Funds already established and growing include:

The Legacy Endowment Fund, which provides distributions for general operating costs.

The Faculty and Staff Endowment Fund, which provides distributions to meet the needs of faculty and staff who sacrificially serve the families of children enrolled at the various Dayton Christian School System campuses. The benefits are provided to employee families who have significant financial needs above and beyond standard salaries and benefits.

The Educating for Excellence Endowment Fund provides distributions to offset costs including employee compensation, special programs, and curriculum development. This fund directly influences recruitment and retention of quality faculty and staff and makes it possible to provide a quality, Christ-centered education, allowing students to reach their potential spiritually, academically, physically, and socially.

The Educating for Eternity Endowment Fund provides distributions for tuition assistance to Christian families desiring a Christian education for their children. Donors may give to this general tuition assistance fund or may establish a special fund and participate in the naming of that fund. The latter fund may be used as a memorial fund in memory or in honor of family members, or may be named using other standards.
